Choosing where your roman blind sits on your window frame
Outside fit is best for blocking light and insulation when lowered, and letting in more light when raised as it clears the window. But you will need to consider how far your window frame juts out from the wall; the corded option will hold the blind 20mm away from the wall which will clear most window frames, while the chain controlled option will hold the blind 40mm off the wall to clear larger frames
Inside fit looks neat and tidy, especially when closed and sitting flush with the front of the window frame. However, when raised, inside fit roman blinds cover a large portion of the glass because at least one fold’s worth of blind is visible at all times. As this will block light and view and is not recommended for small windows. It’s also more likely to fade your fabric

Frequently asked questions
See all FAQs-
Which rooms are roman blinds best in?
Any room that doesn’t get humid like a bathroom or kitchen, so try romans in bedrooms, nurseries, living spaces and home offices, over single doors with glass panels. Consider adding lining for better light blocking and insulation
-
How do I clean roman blinds?
Spot clean away any marks with as soon as you notice them; a cloth and a bit of warm water and mild detergent will do the trick. Don’t scrub or scour or use harsh chemicals, just dab gently. Do not machine wash or dry clean

-
Is it best to fit blinds inside or outside the window frame?
If there’s enough depth within the window recess to fit the blind (see our measuring guide) then an inside fit is a clean and tidy solution; just be aware on very small windows this means the blind will obstruct some of the view. An outside fit (when combined with back rolling operation) is better for not letting in light or cold air as it creates a better seal over the entire window and frame.
