How to add curtain hooks to s-fold curtains

Follow our step-by-step instructions to calculate the perfect spacing between hooks on your readymade S-fold curtains.

What you need

  • A metal tape measure long enough to reach across your entire curtain A metal tape measure long enough to reach across your entire curtain
  • Curtain track/s
  • Curtain/s
  • Hooks
  1. Getting started

S-fold curtains bring an elegant and contemporary style to your room. To ensure a professional finish with neat “waves”, the hook spacing must be even.

  2. Step 1

Determine the number of glides per curtain by dividing the total number of glides on your track by the number of curtains you’re installing on the track.

If you have two curtains, divide the total number of glides by 2, as shown in the illustration.

    For example: 48 glides ÷ 2 = 24 glides per curtain, based on a 2500mm track.

  3. Step 2

Before hanging your curtains, you’ll need to attach the hooks.

Start to place the first hook 50mm away from the edge of the curtain.

    Tip

Lay your curtain face down on a flat surface, with the curtain tape facing up.

  4. Step 3

Subtract 50mm from the total curtain width to get your working width, since the first hook is placed 50mm from the start of the panel.

    For example: 2900mm – 50mm = 2850mm.

  5. Step 4

Calculate the number of hook spaces by subtracting 1 from the number of glides per curtain (step 1). The number of hook spaces is always one less than the number of glides per curtain.

    For example: 24 glides – 1 = 23 hook spaces.

  6. Step 5

Calculate the hook spacing by dividing the working curtain width (step 3) by the number of hook spaces (step 4).

    For example: 2850mm ÷ 23 = 124mm approximately between each hook.

  7. Step 6

Remember when you start hanging the curtain the first hook on your curtain must always be placed 50mm away from the beginning of the panel to form the first “wave”.
